Use one purchase on Apple and Android

Updated 16 September 2026

Apple cannot see a Play purchase and Google cannot see an App Store one. Your AnyTV account bridges the gap.

The rule AnyTV follows is simple: the account grants access only where the store cannot.

Bought on New device What happens
Apple Apple, same Apple ID Apple restores it. Nothing to do.
Apple Android or Android TV Your AnyTV account grants it.
Google Android, same Google account Play restores it.
Google iPhone, iPad or Apple TV Your AnyTV account grants it.
Either A different store account Nothing. It is not that person's purchase.

How to make it work

  1. Sign in to your AnyTV account on the device that made the purchase, so the account knows about it.
  2. Sign in to the same AnyTV account on the other-platform device.
  3. That device gets access.

If it does not, restore purchases on the original device first, then sign in again on the other.

Apple Family Sharing

Where Apple shares a purchase, Apple is in charge and AnyTV does not run a competing invitation list. Turn on Purchase Sharing on the buyer's device and on each family member's device, then restore purchases in AnyTV.

Two Apple behaviours that catch people out, both documented by Apple:

  • A subscription bought before Family Sharing was switched on is not shared.
  • The purchaser can turn sharing off at any time, and nothing tells us they did.

In either case Apple will not share it, and we cannot override Apple. The member's route in is their own subscription.

Google Play

Play shares no subscriptions through Family Library at all. That is why a Family plan on the Google side is run by AnyTV invitations instead.
