Move or disconnect a device
Updated 16 September 2026
Disconnect a device you still own, or erase its library when it is no longer yours.
Open the Devices tab and choose Disconnect on the device you are removing. You are then asked what should happen to the library on it.
Keep its library
Your playlists, profiles and watch history stay on that device and it stops receiving new changes. Reconnect it later and nothing has to download again.
Use this when the device is still yours, a spare tablet, a TV you are taking off the plan for now.
Erase its library
The device deletes your playlists, profiles and watch history the next time it is opened. Your other devices are untouched.
Use this when the device has left your hands. If it is switched off or offline it will not get the instruction until someone next opens the app on it, which is exactly when it matters.
After disconnecting
The slot is held for 7 days. See Device limits explained.
Moving a device to a different account
Connect it to the other account with a code and it moves. One exception: a device that owns a store purchase will not move, because that would quietly separate a subscription from the account that paid for it.
