Hide and rename categories and channels

Updated 16 September 2026

Cut a 40,000-entry playlist down to the part you watch, and make it read properly.

Providers build one playlist for everybody, which means most of it is for somebody else. AnyTV lets you cut it down without editing the playlist itself, so nothing breaks and everything syncs.

Categories

In Settings → Manage categories, per media type (Live, Movies, TV Shows):

  • Hide the categories you never watch, regions, languages, adult sections
  • Bulk hide or show a whole selection at once
  • Reorder them so what you watch is at the top
  • Rename one whose provider label is unhelpful
  • Reset anything back to how the playlist had it

You can do the same on the web in your account under Categories, which is much faster than a remote control.

Channels

In Settings → Manage channels, drill into a category and:

  • Hide individual channels
  • Give a channel your own display name
  • Reset a name or a hidden state

Why do this rather than use an editor

Hidden and renamed are your settings, stored against your account and applied on every device. An edited playlist is a different playlist, and editors tend to break the identifiers artwork matching depends on.

Hidden categories stay out of search results and out of stream selection, so hiding an adult category actually removes it rather than merely tidying the menu.

Did this not solve it?

Tell us what you tried. Settings → Support in the app sends sanitised diagnostics along with your message, no credentials, no stream links.
